SONJA PICARD COLLECTION

Canadian designer Sonja Picard has been evolving as a professional artist since 1990, expressing her creativity through sculpting with mediums of clay, glass, and mix media. Sonja's sculptures have been represented by galleries in North America, and her work has been acquired for private and corporate collections internationally. She was also a noted designer of ceramic giftware for a leading international giftware company.

In 1996, Sonja began a study of yogic philosophy and was inspired to create and design pieces of jewelry as an homage to this knowledge. The Sonja Picard Collection's (SPC) first line was launched in 2000 and now has grown to over 300 pieces. SPC has since become the largest comprehensive line dedicated to the ancient knowledge of yoga.

The Sonja Picard Collection is created in alignment with the ancient yogic concepts and tantric traditions of adornment. The Collection consists of SPC Studio which features pieces created in silver, and Sonja Picard Couture Collection with creations in silver, multi-colour 14k gold, and 22k wrappings around exquisite gemstones and diamonds. Each piece in the Collection is inscribed with written Sanskrit mantras (divine sound vibrations), divine symbols and/or images.

Sonja hand-carves each original piece in wax, invoking the human spirit and offering a sculptural organic quality to the jewelry. Modern shapes and textural finishes showcase the beauty of ancient yogic philosophy resulting in a timeless quality that has become the Sonja Picard Collection's signature look.
